In today's economic climate, people are always looking for ways to save money. One place that sees this trend is gas stations, where more and more people are choosing hybrid and diesel engines as an alternative to gasoline. In the past, diesel was reserved for buses, trucks, and other heavy haul vehicles that log thousands of miles every week. Today, cars, vans, and SUVs are beginning to utilize diesel engines to help people save some cash.
Many variables come into play when deciding between and diesel, some of which include:
·Fuel Economy: Diesel has a higher amount of energy per part than gasoline. In addition, diesel engines use a more efficient fuel-injection method than gas engines. For these reasons, a tank of diesel will get you better mileage than a tank of gas. ·Price: Today's diesel prices are higher than that of gas prices. ·Noise: While diesel engines used to be far noisier than gas engines, technological advances have been made to make diesel engines quieter. ·Accountability/Reliability: For leisure, short distance trip, gasoline is the better option. However, diesel is the better choice for rugged trips that might take you through jagged, uneven terrain. ·Life: Diesel burns at a lower temperature than gas engines, which gives gas engines a shorter life than diesel engines. ·Environment: Since diesel gets better gas mileage than gas, diesel engines also emit less carbon dioxide and other dangerous gasses. With society's concern with carbon emissions and global warming, diesel is a better choice than gasoline.
The heavy hauling and transportation industries utilize diesel more than any other businesses. Airlines must do research to find out which fuel type works best in each plane. A freight trucking company must decide whether to stick with diesel or switch to a cheaper gasoline. The bottom line is this: Most businesses, at some point, will have to decide between diesel and gas.
