Diesel is often chosen for portable generators and can be easily obtained in a huge number of different areas. You will need to install fuel tanks to hold the diesel; however, the shelf life is incredibly long. These generators are noisier than other designs; however, you will be able to run more essential items from these generators.



Propane is another popular choice as the fuel can be stored easily, and will last for many months. The generators are quieter than other styles; however, the fuel is more expensive. The generators for the propane are cheaper, but they do not last as long as other portable generators.Whatever generators you decide upon, you will need to ensure that you understand how to use them safely and correctly. All fuels can be dangerous in the wrong hands and all generators should be run outside the home. The carbon monoxide which is released from the portable generators can be deadly for all of your family.
